Africa's Wildest Places, By Private Aircraft
This is our answer for travellers who have done the classic safari circuit and want the version with every inefficiency removed. Every transfer on this itinerary is by private aircraft — no scheduled flight connections, no shared light-aircraft shuttles waiting on other passengers, no long road transfers. You land on a private airstrip, and camp is usually a five-minute drive away.
The freedom this buys is real: your own departure times, the ability to fly directly between reserves that would otherwise take a full day to connect by road, and access to some of the most remote, exclusive camps on the continent — the ones private aviation makes practical in the first place.
Johannesburg → Sabi Sand, Greater Kruger
Arrive at OR Tambo International, where a private aircraft is waiting on the general aviation apron — no terminal transfer, no queues. A direct flight delivers you to a private airstrip in the Sabi Sand in under an hour, with lunch already waiting at camp.
Sabi Sand, Greater Kruger
Dawn and dusk game drives through one of the highest-density leopard territories in Africa, with the middle of the day free for the pool or a spa treatment.
Sabi Sand, Greater Kruger
A guided walking safari this morning, then an afternoon game drive. By now most guests have had their standout sighting.
Sabi Sand → Okavango Delta, Botswana
Rather than routing back through a hub city, your private aircraft flies directly from the Sabi Sand airstrip to the Okavango Delta, crossing three international borders in a single hop. Arrive in time for an afternoon mokoro glide through the reed channels.
Okavango Delta
Game drives and, water levels permitting, a boat safari through the floodplains of Chief's Island — some of the highest wildlife densities anywhere in Africa.
Okavango Delta
A slower day by design — an early game drive, free time at camp, and a sundowner cruise as the light turns gold over the floodplains.
Okavango Delta → Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Another direct private flight, this time to Victoria Falls, touching down close enough to hear the Falls before you've even reached the hotel. The afternoon is free for a first look.
Victoria Falls
A guided walking tour of the Falls, an optional helicopter flight over the gorge, and a sunset cruise on the Upper Zambezi to close the day.
Victoria Falls
An open day for white-water rafting, a Zambezi National Park game drive, or simply time at the lodge before departure.
Victoria Falls → Johannesburg
A final private flight back to Johannesburg, timed to connect directly with your international departure.
